When trouble comes, what’s your first instinct? Do you run? Do you hide? Do you grab the nearest thing you can find to defend yourself? Or do you pause and ask yourself, “Why in the world does trouble keep finding me?” LOL!
Unfortunately, I’m the last one. So, if I ever found myself in real trouble, I guess my street smarts would be at ZERO.
But I say all that to say, the last few months have been quiet. Sorry, I know I need to work on that! I think I’ve just gotten so comfortable living in a little peace for once.
This year has been all about trusting God in the unknown. Believe me, I’ve cried a lot of tears, asked a lot of questions, and had my fair share of doubts. Even in the chaos, somehow, I always came out on the other side.
Through it all, my first question was always, “Okay, Lord, what are You doing? What are You trying to show me? This has to be happening for a reason, right?”
But with the last storm I came out of, something felt different. For the first time, I didn’t immediately question the Lord. I simply went through it, trusting that whatever it was, God had a purpose in it.
Recently, I was talking to my mom, and I told her, “Mom, this feels different. I’m not caught off guard by the chaos and the enemy’s schemes anymore. I feel like I’m learning how to fight now.”
And that’s when I thought about James 1, which tells us to consider it pure joy when we face trials because the testing of our faith produces perseverance and helps us mature.
Isn’t that something? Sometimes, you don’t even realize how much you’ve grown until you find yourself facing something that would have broken you down before. The situation might look familiar, but your response is different because God has been working on you.
Your walk with God will never be perfectly linear. You’re going to make mistakes. You may have doubts sometimes. Your faith won’t always feel strong, and the trials aren’t going to magically disappear.
James tells us when we face trials, not if we face them.
So, stay in the Word. Stay in prayer. Remain watchful, and keep your faith in God even when you don’t understand what He’s doing.
You may not always understand the storm, but you can trust the One who is with you in it.
And the promise? God will be by your side through it all.
Like my grandmother always says, “We have a Hero on the Hill.”
And I promise you, He is constantly watching over you.
So the next time trouble comes knocking, maybe instead of immediately asking, “Lord, why me?” we can take a breath, stand firm, and remember who is fighting with us.
Because sometimes, the biggest evidence of growth isn’t that the storm never comes. It’s that when it does, you’re no longer the same person who faced the last one.
Keep trusting Him. Keep growing. And remember, you’re never fighting alone.
